People say you can’t tell which AI models are reading your site, or what they do when they get there. This is Microsoft Clarity on one of ours. It names the operator, the bot, and the activity — no guessing.
Continuity Hub, last 30 days: ChatGPT-User made 375 requests. The homepage 83 times. Then the guides, one by one — supply-chain resilience, financial-services continuity rules, OSHA evacuation plans — down to pages that got a single read each. The bot didn’t skim the site. It walked the whole catalog.
The scrape-to-referral ratio is 494:1. For every 494 pages the model read, it sent back one visitor. One referral, total, from chatgpt.com.
That ratio is the part nobody selling AI visibility talks about. Being read by the models and being sent customers by the models are two different numbers, and the first one is enormous while the second one is nearly zero. We’ve measured the same shape across our sites — 408:1 on one, 837:1 across the fleet in September. The reading is real. The referring barely exists.
So when you interview whoever handles your SEO and AEO, ask them to pull up this screen for your site, live, with the dates in frame. If they can’t show you the receipts, they’re reading from somebody else’s book.
