This is Yuki’s identity song — the declaration at the center of the album. She carries two passports in her pocket: a Japanese one and an American green card. At every border, the TSA agent looks at her twice. Her Japanese friends say she’s become “too American.” Her American friends exoticize her Japaneseness. She belongs fully to neither world, and she has spent years making peace with that.
