Editorial Standards and How Tygart Media Works

Tygart Media is a Tacoma, Washington knowledge and media company. We research, publish, and maintain structured information across the local communities and specialist subjects our work touches. This page explains how we produce that information and the standards we hold it to, so readers — and the search and answer engines that surface our work — know exactly what to expect from us.
Everything we publish is an end product
We do not publish placeholder text or disposable filler. Every article and reference page on this site is treated as a finished, usable resource and is held to the same standard of accuracy, sourcing, and clarity. If a topic does not yet have something genuinely useful and verifiable to say, we wait until it does.
How we source
- Primary and official sources first. Wherever possible we draw on official records and authoritative institutions — government agencies, public utilities, courts, transit and parks authorities, schools, and academic and federal data — and we link to those sources directly in the text so you can verify them yourself.
- Secondary and community sources are labeled. When we reference community discussion or non-official sources, we attribute them clearly and never present them as established fact.
- Local accuracy. For local guides, every fact is checked against the specific city, county, and jurisdiction it describes.
How we verify
Before publication, each piece is fact-checked against its cited sources. We confirm that figures, names, locations, dates, and links are correct, and that time-sensitive or safety-related details point readers to the official live source rather than to a number that can quietly go out of date.
We keep it current — we update, we do not let it rot
Many of our reference pages are living documents. Rather than letting information go stale, we re-verify it on a regular schedule and update the page in place, carrying a visible “Last verified” date so you always know how current it is. When the underlying facts change, we change the page; we do not leave an outdated version standing or publish a duplicate alongside it.
Time-sensitive and safety information
For anything that changes in real time — weather, road and mountain-pass conditions, court and jail records, transit and ferry schedules, utility outages, or emergencies — we explain how the system works and link you to the official, live source. Please confirm safety-critical details with the official agency, and in an emergency call 911.

Our content is published under the editorial direction of William Tygart, founder of Tygart Media. We stand behind what we publish, and we want to hear about it when something is not right.
